About Us
Plymouth Homes Sales and Lettings is a local business that takes great pride in serving the people of Plymouth. We currently have a team of 20 highly skilled individuals and are looking forward to the next phase of our development. Furthermore, we are committed to demonstrating the best possible letting and estate agency practices.
Our History
In September 1999, Ian Mitchell established Plymouth Homes after having worked for Halifax Property Services and completing his professional exams at the College of Estate Management at Reading University. Together with his business partner, Susan Tamblyn, he started the business from empty premises on Mutley Plain, where they still operate today. Initially starting with no properties to sell, Ian and Susan worked hard to build a property portfolio and quickly gained a reputation for quality service and delivering on their promises.
In 2004, they successfully opened their second office on a prominent corner of the busy shopping district of Crownhill, marking the first step in expanding the business. This increased prominence and the unique combination of a Mutley Plain and Crownhill office propelled Plymouth Homes to become one of the largest and most successful estate agents in the Plymouth area. As the business grew, their team of highly skilled estate agents expanded steadily, further strengthening their reputation.
Following the introduction of Energy Performance Certificates in 2007, Ian and two of their valuers underwent the required training and examinations to be able to produce the reports (qualifying on their first attempt!). The requirement for an Energy Performance Certificate remains, and Ian and Clive still provide these for their clients today.
About Our Journey to Today
In 2013, Susan decided to retire, so Ian bought her half of the company. Ian now has sole ownership of Plymouth Homes and took the opportunity to re-brand the company gradually. With a renewed focus on expansion and business growth, Ian launched a lettings arm of the business in March 2014 to establish Plymouth Homes Sales and Lettings. To ensure the best level of customer care for you, all staff are fully qualified and equipped with the necessary skills.
Consequently, Ian felt that the best approach to embrace the lettings market was to appoint a new Lettings Director specifically focused on this area. He had known Jacqui Courtier for some time and believed she possessed the necessary skills to build and manage a highly successful lettings business. Jacqui was eager to establish her own lettings business. She utilised the Rent Paid… Guaranteed model, and drew on her 25-plus years of experience in lettings, as well as her role as the Regional Executive for ARLA Propertymark, covering Devon & Somerset. The combination of Jacqui’s expertise and their reputation has resulted in a Lettings business with an impressive property portfolio and a consistently high demand for their services.
